Take Action

Learning is good, but it’s not enough.

“Life’s most important journeys are completed by taking small, single steps.”

We believe in connecting the everyday person to organizations that we believe are truly getting justice work done. Everyone has something to offer, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Below are some of our suggestions to help you take your first step. We regularly update our page so please stop by again.

Go to globalgiving.org, kiva.org or givology.com and use your money in a way that matters. All of these sites allow you to hand pick a grassroots project, entrepreneurial effort, or education fund to donate or lend to directly.

Join Preemptive Love Coalition in their mission to unmake violence and help rebuild the life of a woman and her family after war. Shop from their Sisterhood Collective and support female refugees turned entrepreneurs. Or donate directly to fund their peace-making work, front line relief efforts and women’s economic empowerment work.

Join the Dressember campaign, wear only dresses for the month of December and raise money and awareness to aid in the fight against human trafficking.

Raise money to sponsor a village through Tostan and create the opportunity for 800+ community members to go through a Community Empowerment Program to end Female Genital Mutilation.

Head over to Plan International, Women for Women International, or American Jewish World Services to sponsor a woman or girl.

Donate individually, or fundraise with a group for IJM and see how far your money can go. For example, $180 provides healthcare for a victim of sexual assault and $6,300 pays for a slavery rescue operation.

Toronto or Ottawa resident? Register for Free-Them’s Freedom Walk to fight Human Trafficking.

Start your own Camfed Fundraiser and raise money to send girls to school.

Become an Exile International Ambassador and raise money to help rehabilitate rescued child soldiers.

Join the world’s largest movement of men and boys fighting for gender equality with White Ribbon and learn more about how you (or the males in your life) can become part of the solution and part of a future that is equitable for all people.

Join the Save the Mothers Speakers’ Bureau and help educate others on the issues surrounding maternal mortality and the work Save the Mothers is doing to help.

Fundraise for the Malala Fund and help Malala in the fight for girls’ right to education.

Head to careaction.org to join the Care Network and become an advocate.
